This is the ultimate guide on Vanwives for 2023.
Over the last 18 months, I have watched almost 40 hours of YouTube videos created by Jaz and Crystal.
I’m probably just as obsessed with them as you are. 😃
If you’re curious about:

👉 Where they plan to travel with their dogs
👉 What issues and controversies they have handled
👉 How you can live van life within the next 90 days
Then you’ve definitely come to the right website.
Before we begin, a quick intro from the Van Life Freedom author…
The Van Life Freedom Author
Hello there fellow van life enthusiast. I’m Joshua.
I’ve discovered the ultimate business model for remote workers.
With this business model, I’m able to:
👉 Own my own van completely debt-free
👉 Survive for several days without wifi
👉 Create semi-passive income online
👉 Run my business from any parking lot
But hey, let’s talk about that later. Back to the beautiful Van Wives…
Van Wives FAQs (January 2023)
They don’t have a name for their van.
Jazmyn Canning (age 28) – born 12th August, 1994.
Crystal Drinkwalter (age 29) – born 23th October, 1993.
Both are around 5′ 9″ tall and weigh 172lbs or 78kgs.
Despite having a channel named Vanwives, they are NOT married yet but are engaged to be married this year.
They haven’t split or divorced, and shouldn’t be confused with the late #vanlife influencer Lee MacMillian and her former partner Max Birdstrup, who did a similar journey from Canada to South America with their dog which was the same breed.
However, Jaz recently said goodbye temporarily as she heads back to Canada to see family, while Crystal remains in Baja with the dogs.
Both Jaz and Crystal are from Tofino, BC, Canada.
Bella and Izzy are their two dogs which are Australian Shepherds.
The Vanwives drive a 2006 Mercedes-Benz 201 Sprinter van.
It was previously a courier van and was converted into a camper.
There are numerous upgrades that Jaz and Crystal have made.
👉 Dometic Fridge Freezer
👉 Ramblewood Stove
👉 Renogy Solar Panel Kit
👉 600W Pure Sine Wave Inverter
👉 Lucid 6-inch Memory Foam Mattress
👉 Eberspacher 12v Diesel Heater
👉 Maxxair Ventilation Fans
They have planned to add more accessories to handle colder climates.
Both Jazmyn and Crystal don’t come from rich families. Instead, they both worked as waitresses and saved as much as they could before affording their first van, which cost $14,000 and an additional $10,000 on the fitout.
YouTubers are wealthier than we often assume.
As of 2023, Vanwives from YouTube have a net worth of $690,000 USD.
This is based on the value of their van, online business and stock portfolio.
They are almost millionaires but choose to keep a simple life so they can appear more relatable to their young audience.
How much do van life couples typically make on YouTube? Their income from creating their daily videos might actually shock you.
Vanwives make $7,500/month from their YouTube channel.
This is generated through:
👉 YouTube advertising revenue
👉 Amazon affiliate links under their videos
👉 Brand sponsorships such as SimpliSafe
👉 Donations from their 300+ Patreons
👉 Tips from their YouTube subscribers
👉 Donations directly to their PayPal account
So it’s clear that they’re treating their channel like a real business, and now have the freedom to do as they choose.
Vanwives has collaborated with several others in the VanLife and LGBTQ community, but these haven’t been done in detail.
Van Wives are currently in Baja, California (Mexico), doing the Southern Baja loop and enjoying the surfing waves, although as I mentioned, Jaz recently left Crystal to be on her own.
That said, Crystal’s own family is coming to visit her in Mexico.
Van Wives have traveled extensively around North America, specifically Oregon, on their quest towards the southern tip of South America.
There have been numerous big moments in their evolving story.
👉 Getting engaged
👉 Building a cabin in the woods
👉 A couple of petty arguments
They really haven’t had anything dangerous or controversial happen. And yet, we can’t wait to see more!
Jaz and Crystal are aiming to drive all the way to Guatemala with their van. Their end goal is the southern tip of Argentina.
What can we learn from these beautiful humans? Quite simply:
👉 Women can definitely live the #vanlife dream
👉 You can also do this with big dogs in tow
👉 Buy yourself a simple yet affordable van
Most importantly, our lives are way too short!
I believe that Jaz and Crystal have captivated the hearts and minds of so many of us with their inspiring videos on freedom and lifestyle.
They remind us that life is worth living today, even if it’s simple.
And we all have the power to claim the freedom that we deserve.
